Institute VDC VI is a joint regional institute that was founded in 2005 and includes the Vrhnika VDC unit and the Idrija VDC unit, as well as the Vrhnika Residential Community. The beginnings go back much further, as the first workshops for adults with physical and mental disabilities were opened in Idrija in 1984, and in Podlipa in 1994.
With the constant development of services, we enable dependents to spend quality time in different life stages. Within the framework of the care service, we provide dependents with support in maintaining personal hygiene, taking care of personal tidiness, integrating into the environment, ensuring safety conditions, fostering positive lifestyle habits and forming healthy functional relationships. Within the framework of the management service, we organize various educational and creative workshops and sports activities aimed at preserving already acquired knowledge and skills and acquiring new ones. Within the framework of the employment service we enable integration into active working life through three different forms (cooperation, our own sales program, integrated employment), where dependents get a sense of self-affirmation and self-realization. By offering institutional care, we enable dependents to live in community (replacing the function of home).
In 2023, 85 users were included in the management, protection and employment service under special conditions in VDC VI. The quality implementation of the program is ensured by 24 employees (guardians, work instructors, administrative workers, social care workers).
As part of its services, our institute has been providing all-day (16-hour) institutional care for 12 users since 2007. We make sure that the lives of the users in our residential unit are as independent and fulfilling as possible.
