Zarasai Social Care Home is located in the border region in north-eastern Lithuania, county of Utena. The institution is surrounded by a picturesque natural landscape. The nearby hills are covered with forest and there is a lake at the foot of the hill. The countryside views provide occupants with a sense of serenity and soothe their soul.
Zarasai Social Care Home was founded in about 1920.
In 1936, the buildings and land in Puodiškiai single farmstead were acquired; a garden was planted. At that time, the place had 30 – 40 occupants consisting of elderly people and people with disabilities.
Zarasai Social Care Home offers long-term and short-term social care for the elderly who are unable to live independently or who are partially independent and who require constant care. The social care home provides accommodation for elderly people who have been identified as having a high level of special needs as well as people with mental disorders and/or psychiatric disorders who have been diagnosed as having a reduced capacity to work (0–40 percent) or a high or medium level of special needs and who require constant specialized nursing care or constant specialized care (assistance). The residents of the social care home include elderly people and adult people with mental or psychiatric disorders.
The main aim of the social care home is to create appropriate living and rehabilitation conditions for occupants, to organize efficient provision of required services taking into account the degree of occupants’ disabilities, their health condition, preferences, needs and interests. Their mission is to provide social care services for elderly people, for those who face loneliness and for adults with disabilities, at the same time fostering their societal links.
As from 2019, Zarasai Social Care Home has a capacity to accommodate 210 people. Occupants include people from various parts of Lithuania. The institution offers such facilities as a hairdressing salon, a laundry room, a library, TV and internet access. The occupants of the social care home are provided with opportunities to engage in sewing, knitting, wood carving and exercise as well as pursue other crafts. The activities are organized so as to support and promote independent living skills among occupants and to enhance their motivation to seek a greater level of independence, focusing on the institution’s morale, leadership, staff motivation and professional growth. Currently, the founder of Zarasai Social Care home is the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania.
Zarasų socialinės globos namai įsikūrė pačiame Lietuvos pakraštyje, jos šiaurės rytų dalyje, Utenos apskrityje. Įstaiga yra labai gražiame gamtos kampelyje. Kalvos apaugusios mišku, o pakalnėje tyvuliuoja ežeras. Gamtos vaizdai suteikia gyventojams sielos ramybę.
Zarasų globos namai buvo įsteigti apie 1920 metus.
1936m. buvo nupirkti Puodiškių vienkiemio pastatai, žemė, įveistas sodas ir t.t. Tuo metu čia gyveno 30-40 senų žmonių ir invalidų.
Zarasų socialinės globos namai užtikrina ilgalaikę (trumpalaikę) socialinę globą nesavarankiškiems ar iš dalies savarankiškiems senyvo amžiaus asmenims, kuriems būtina nuolatinė specialistų priežiūra. Globos namuose apgyvendinami senyvo amžiaus asmenys, kuriems nustatytas didelių specialiųjų poreikių lygis, ir asmenys, turintys proto negalią ir (ar) psichikos sutrikimų, dėl kurių jiems nustatytas 0–40 procentų darbingumo lygis arba didelių ar vidutinių specialiųjų poreikių lygis, ir kuriems nustatytas specialusis nuolatinės slaugos ar specialusis nuolatinės priežiūros (pagalbos) poreikis. Globos namuose gyvena senyvo amžiaus asmenys, suaugę asmenys su proto ir psichikos negalia.
Pagrindinis socialinės globos namų tikslas – sudaryti tinkamas gyvenimo ir reabilitacijos sąlygas, organizuoti kokybišką reikalingų paslaugų teikimą, atsižvelgiant į socialinės globos namų bendruomenės narių negalės laipsnį, sveikatos stovį, pomėgius, poreikius ir interesus. Misija - Teikti socialines paslaugas vienišiems, pagyvenusiems, senyvo amžiaus ir žmonėms su negalia, išsaugant ryšius su visuomene.
Nuo 2019 m. Zarasų socialinės globos namuose yra 210 vietų. Gyvena žmonės iš įvairiausių Lietuvos rajonų. Gyventojų patogumui veikia kirpykla, skalbykla, biblioteka, rodoma televizija, veikia internetas. Socialinės globos namų gyventojai turi visas galimybes siūti, megzti, drožinėti, sportuoti bei užsiimti kitais rankdarbiais. Veikla organizuojama taip, kad palaikytų, skatintų ir motyvuotų asmenį būti savarankiškesniu, skiriant daugiau dėmesio įstaigos kultūrai, lyderystei, darbuotojų motyvavimui, profesiniam tobulėjimui. Šiuo metu Zarasų socialinės globos namų steigėjas yra Lietuvos Respublikos Socialinės apsaugos ir darbo ministerija.
